CHRISTCHURCH CHAMBER OF TRADE HAS A NEW PRESIDENT - Vizzit Christchurch Online Magazine

Christchurch Chamber of Trade and Commerce has elected Peter Watson-Lee, of Williams Thompson Solicitors, as its next President. Peter takes over the position held for the past two years by his colleague, Alastair Hoare. Julie Ratcliffe of Julie Ratcliffe Public Relations is the new Vice-President.
The handover took place at the September meeting of the Chamber’s Executive Committee. Alastair Hoare had held the position since 2009 and it was agreed at the Chamber’s March Annual General Meeting that Peter would take over the Presidency later in the year.
Speaking after the changeover, Peter Watson-Lee said: “Christchurch is a fabulous place to live and work and it is important that its businesses remain strong and vibrant. And to achieve that, it is important that the Chamber continues its role of actively supporting our local enterprises, both established and new.
“In taking over the Presidency of the Chamber in a time of economic difficulties, I believe it is essential that our members understand what we do and that we encourage the mutual support between local businesses that is such an important feature of both our local community and our Chamber. The mutual support stretches from trading with and supplying services to each other, to being a sympathetic ear in respect of common problems.
As for the future, with a positive approach, I can see no reason why Christchurch and Highcliffe cannot be at the front of the economic recovery that must surely not be far away.”
Peter outlined his plans for the year which included increasing the membership of the Chamber of Trade and holding business networking events. He confirmed that the Chamber’s popular social event, its Annual Dinner and Dance will be held in January 2012.
