Christchurch Hotel Group achieves 4 Star Success

There is cause for celebration at the newly formed Harbour Hotels Group, which owns both The Kings and Christchurch Harbour Hotel and the two Gary Rhodes Restaurants in Christchurch, Kings Brasserie and Rhodes South.

After carrying out a total investment in Christchurch of £14m, in less than a year the hotel and restaurant group, is proud to announce that it has been awarded by the AA a 4 star status and two rosettes for the Christchurch Harbour Hotel & Harbour Restaurant and two rosettes for Gary Rhodes’s Rhodes South. The Kings Hotel and Kings Rhodes Brasserie has secured a 3* award and two AA rosettes.

It’s a great achievement for the Group who have carried out a joint £14m refit and have created over 100 jobs, with roles including housekeeping, reception and waiting staff.  The awards from the AA represent the recognition of the high standards of facilities on offer as well as the care and attention to detail that is extended to guests.

Opened less than a year ago, the Group has become synonymous with business travellers making the most of the easy access to the airport and surrounding regional business hubs, while diners enjoy the warm welcome from the restaurant team.

Adam Terpening is General Manager of The Kings, formerly The Kings Arms, and the Christchurch Harbour Hotel, previously known as the Avonmouth Hotel in Mudeford.
He said; “We’re really pleased with this national recognition. The hotels and the restaurants are rapidly making a name for themselves both locally and much further afield. The rosettes and the stars have endorsed this and have highlighted the team’s hard work that has gone into creating these elegant and quintessentially English hotels and its superb restaurants.”

Group Marketing Manager, Andy Dawson believes the group which now holds 3 restaurants all with two AA Rosettes in less than a year of opening, is due to its focus on food quality and the restaurants service.

Andy said: “Six AA rosettes highlights the high levels of service and warm hospitality at our restaurants, as well as an obvious attention to the quality and selection of ingredients. We feel that the friendly, relaxed nature to the restaurants has helped us to achieve a standard that has been recognised with these rosettes.”

He added: “Our aim has been to create local restaurants for everyone to enjoy.  The menus are simple, yet elegant cuisine, using locally sourced seafood, meat and produce wherever we can.  This grading shows that we’re taking the right approach and that we’re well on our way to helping to put Christchurch and Dorset on the culinary map.”
