Winners of this year’s Christchurch in Bloom Awards received their prizes at a special ceremony held at The Captain’s Club. The awards were presented to the gold, silver and bronze winners by the Mayor of Christchurch, Cllr David Flagg, who said: “Christchurch in Bloom winners are to be congratulated on the magnificent displays which are so important in our Borough and which help towards Christchurch’s entry in the South & South East in Bloom Awards. We won the Coastal Award this year and without community and business involvement, this result could not have been achieved.” The Mayor also thanked the competition’s sponsors: The Captain’s Club Hotel, The Christchurch Harbour Hotel and Eco Composting. Barrie Andrews from Burton won gold in both the Best Front Garden category and the Best Container category, Grove Farm Meadows was named Best Holiday Park, the Best Commercial Frontage prize went to The Lord Bute Hotel while the Best Allotment title was won by Ron and Gill Warne. Judges were so impressed by the entries from three schools that all three of them were awarded prizes. Mudeford Infants won the prize for All Round Excellence, Burton School won the Innovation and Environmental Projects Award and the Priory School came away with the Innovative Development and Improvement Award. The judges also awarded a special prize to Woodlands View Day Centre. |
