The Federation of Small Businesses is holding its popular annual Summer Charity Barbeque at the prestigious Captain’s Club Hotel on Friday 10 September starting at 7.30pm. The event is open to all and will raise funds for The Mayor of Christchurch’s charities. The evening will include a charity raffle and auction. Chairman of the local FSB branch which covers Bournemouth, Christchurch, East Dorset and Poole, David Ramsden, said: “Our summer barbeque is always a popular event with some businesses taking the opportunity to make it a corporate event to thank staff or simply an excuse to spend a great evening at this fabulous venue. The bonus is that we also raise money for local worthy causes.” The FSB is appealing for raffle and auction prizes to help in their fundraising efforts. Tickets for the event cost £20 each and includes the barbeque and welcome drink. Booking is essential, for details call Lorna Wills on 01425 280821 or by email at lorna.wills@fsb.org.uk.

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) in Dorset has joined forces with the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) to help promote apprenticeships and are holding joint events where small businesses can find out how they can employ young people under the scheme. The meetings will dispel the idea that apprenticeships are the reserve of large companies and are part of the NAS campaign 100 in 100 which aims to place 100 apprentices in 100 days. The first meeting will take place on 14 September at the Village Hotel, Bournemouth between 12noon and 2pm. The event is free to FSB members and £12.50 for non members and includes lunch. Anyone interested in attending should contact Lorna Wills at the FSB Regional Office on 01425 280821/280080 or by email at: lorna.wills@fsb.org.uk
