Christchurch Council going out to consultation on Mudeford Wood Community Centre.
Following approval by its Community Services Committee, Christchurch Council is about to start a public consultation on the future of Mudeford Wood Community Centre. The Centre is currently costing the Council £76,000 a year as it is an underused facility. A questionnaire is being delivered to residents living in the vicinity of the Centre as well as to users of the Centre and residents’ associations. Questionnaires are also available from the Centre itself, Two Riversmeet Leisure Complex, the Civic Offices, Christchurch Information Centre and Christchurch and Highcliffe libraries and can be downloaded from www.dorsetforyou.com. The consultation will be open from Friday 30 October until Friday 11 December 2009 and people can take their completed questionnaires to one of the six locations mentioned above. Cllr Alan Griffiths, Leader of Christchurch Council, said: “What the Council is doing is consulting interested parties to get their views as to the best use of this site for the future. This could involve continuing as we are, transferring the centre to a charitable group, investing in the centre, closing the centre or redeveloping the site. “No decisions will be made until all interested parties have had the opportunity to respond to the consultation and the Council has been able to consider all their views. “I would urge everyone with an interest in the Centre to complete a questionnaire so that their views can be taken into account.” |
