They are more used to supporting the UK armed forces who operate in difficult parts of the world but now employees of one of the country’s leading high-tech communications companies have shown their support for the work of the Bransgore Community Responders. SELEX Communications of Christchurch produce state-of-the-art telecommunications equipment for the UK military and civilian organisations. Generous staff at SELEX Communications have turned their attention to matters nearer home and focused on local matters. They recently awarded the Bransgore Community First Responders £2,000 which will be used to purchase a replacement for the last of their old-style Heartstart defibrillators. Debbie Phillips of the SELEX Communications Employee Forum said, "SELEX Communications is committed to supporting local charities through our Employee Forum, which enables our people to decide which cause to create links with. The Responders were a very popular choice and we were pleased to help fund a new defibrillator." Responder Sarah Fuller said, “The defibrillator is probably the most important piece of equipment we have when we attend someone suffering cardiac arrest. This generous support of SELEX Communications means we can replace the last of our old original defibrillators, which are being taken out of frontline service, and replace it with one of the latest pieces of equipment designed for simple and easy use. Defibrillators save lives.
