Going the Extra Mile! Bransgore Walkers run in support of Responders
When father and daughter duo Andy and Shulah Howes of Walkers Garage in Bransgore decided to run the New Forest Half Marathon earlier this year, they chose to do a bit more than simply run for fun. They went a bit further by raising sponsorship which enabled them to present the Bransgore & District Community Responder Team with nearly £600 from their efforts. Shulah ran the half marathon last year in aid of the Responders but this year she convinced her father Andy to run with her. Andy owns Walkers Garage in Burley Road, Bransgore where Shulah works with him. Customers, who attended for MOT’s and repairs at the well known local garage, sponsored the pair for the run. Shulah said, “Dad used to do a lot of running and so this year he joined me for the run, and together we felt we would raise money for the Community Responder team in Bransgore. They do a great job and give their time to help our local community so we felt it only right to help them.” The pair completed the half marathon in 2 hrs and 3 minutes. They were recently presented with a Certificate of Appreciation and a photo of the Responder team by the group in recognition of the support they have provided. Responder spokesperson Sarah Fuller said,” We are so grateful to Shulah and Andy for their efforts in raising this significant amount of money for the group, which will help us to continue to provide the service we do for the community. We were pleased to present them with the certificate and photo as a small token of thanks. They have invited someone from our group to join them in the run next year, and we are trying to work out which group member we can nominate who stands a chance of keeping up with them” Photo shows Community Responder Sarah Fuller (centre) who presented Shulah (left) and Andy (right) with their certificate of appreciation and group photo. |
