Recruitment Day at The Wessex Autistic Society

RECRUITMENT DAY AT THE WESSEX AUTISTIC SOCIETY

The Wessex Autistic Society is a growing charity employing over 350 people across the Wessex region. The charity will be holding a Recruitment Day on Saturday 22nd May from 10am to 1pm at Portfield School, Parley Lane, Christchurch promoting vacancies at the local organisation.

The Wessex Autistic Society is seeking flexible, reliable and self-motivated people who share the Society’s values to join their team as Residential Support Workers.

If you are looking for full time work in the Christchurch/West Parley area, you are invited to attend the Recruitment Day where you will be able to meet some of the managers and support staff who will be happy to tell you more about working for the Society.

HR Manager, Sarah Alderton comments; “There are several Residential Support Worker positions available and we would encourage anyone interested in this opportunity to pop in to Portfield School for an informal chat on Saturday to see if any of our vacancies might suit. The positions on offer provide full time opportunities in the Parley and Christchurch area. Please come and talk to us to learn more about working with the charity.”

The Wessex Autistic Society was formed 41 years ago by a group of parents of children with autism. It is a voluntary organisation, which aims to ensure that all people with autism and related conditions, and their carers, in the Wessex region, have access to appropriate education, care, support, and development services. The Society covers Dorset, Somerset, West Hampshire and Wiltshire.

Portfield School is run by the Society and currently educates 60 pupils aged 3-18 and tailors the educational curriculum according to each pupils needs, focusing on individuals’ strengths as well as addressing the learning disabilities associated with autism. Portfield was awarded the ‘OFSTED Outstanding’ Logo as a result of its 2007/08 inspection.

The Society is committed to ensuring that people with autism should enjoy the same rights and privileges as the rest of the population, including the right to accessible and suitable activities.
