Volunteer Responders help local Day Centre
Bransgore Community First Responders are used to receiving help and support from their community, but they turned the tables recently and presented a local charity with a vital piece of life-saving equipment. The Responders have recently managed to replace all their defibrillators with the latest equipment, through the support of the local community. The old defibrillators are being withdrawn from frontline ambulance service, but still have a role to play in saving lives in appropriate locations. Now the Responders have donated one of the original defibrillators to the Stable Family Home Trust at Bisterne near Ringwood. The Trust provides a range of flexible and creative services to people with learning disabilities and their families. They aim to support people; to enjoy friendships and relationships; to be active and healthy; to be valued members of their communities and to live fulfilling lives. This year is the Trust’s 30th anniversary and they are fundraising to convert outbuildings into a new woodwork shop, dance and drama studio and pottery. Responder Jacqui Rhodes said,” When we replaced the original defibrillators we wanted to ensure they went somewhere they would continue to be available to support our community who may have a need for one. Stable Family Home Trust does excellent work supporting those who need some help to live independent lives, and like us they rely on donations and support. Our defibrillator was originally provided to us by Bransgore Rotary and we are happy to pass it to Stable Trust in the knowledge it my help save a life”. Ben Swan Day Manager (welfare) for the Trust said,”……..The Stable Family Home Trust has for many years invested in high quality first aid training for its staff and has four advanced first aiders on site as well as several basic first aiders. We are very grateful to Bransgore Community First Responders for their kind gift of a defibrillator and for also organising free training for our advanced first aiders. Whilst we hope never to have to put the equipment or training to use it is very reassuring to know that we can deliver very high quality first aid should the need arise.
