Leading Bournemouth based Zumba instructor, Tanya Bright, one of the very first instructors to be qualified in the area, has joined forces with two local charities, Lewis Manning Hospice, based in Poole and The Wessex Autistic Society with Head Offices in Christchurch, to host a Guinness World Record attempt of holding the biggest Zumba Class ever.
Hoping to attract 1,500 Zumba enthusiasts Tanya’s passionate and energetic style will make for a fast paced record breaking attempt. A born dancer, Tanya competed at National level in Ballroom and Latin dance until the age of 17 years when she went to University. To help fund her degree Tanya took her Exercise to Music qualification and followed this up by taking the very first Zumba course to be held in the UK in 2007. Taught by the founder of Zumba, Alberto ‘Beto’ Perez, in London, Tanya adds her own ‘flavour’ to her popular classes, choreographing her own dance moves to music that can’t help but inspire.
Tanya comments; “For me, Zumba is about your approach to life, bigger than just exercise but including nutrition as well. At AFC Bournemouth I have introduced a Weight Management Programme alongside my Zumba classes which has helped to accelerate results with my clients. I’m really excited to play a part in making people’s lives better. Now I am able to do what I love best for the benefit of two local charities, I hope we will be able to raise significant funds to improve people’s lives from across the county in many different ways, and have fun breaking a world record in the process!”
