This year’s Christchurch Christmas Festival takes place on Saturday 5 December. The whole day, from 10am to 7pm, will see the Christmas market in the pedestrianised High Street with a host of food, drink and gift ideas in stalls lining the street.

Once again Santa will be flying in with his reindeer to parade from Peeks Partystore, leaving at 4.15pm, down Bargates to join the Mayor, Cllr David Flagg, on the balcony of the Mayor’s Parlour in the High Street for the Christmas lights switch-on at 4.00pm. The reindeer will then move to a pen outside the Priory to be fed and petted before their long journey back to Lapland.

During the afternoon two Crystal Creatures – human statues from a land of ice and fantasy – will weave their magic in the High Street, Bargates and outside the Priory Gates to entertain the crowds.

Christchurch Community Partnership will be hosting their “Magical Moments” in a marquee in Saxon Square with performances throughout the day starting at 10am with Christchurch Music Centre and continuing with Stourvale Mummers, Ring of Eight dance group, Mudeford Infants, Swing Unlimited Big Band, Funky Little Choir, Pure Funk dance group, U3A Vintage Brass Band, Treehouse Theatre and the Lighthouse band.

Local band State of Undress will be performing in the High Street during the day from around 1pm. The Priory will also be holding their Advent Fair on the same day from 10.30am until 1pm in Priory House with mulled wine and mince pies, coffee and refreshments and Christmas stalls.
