 Just ten days before launching their eleventh annual event, committee members of Christchurch Food & Wine Festival have been given a Meritorious Award by Christchurch Council. The award was made in recognition of many years’ voluntary service to the Borough in supporting the Christchurch Food & Wine Festival. The nomination paper that went to councillors said: “The Festival is now seen as one of the best Food Festivals in the UK and has attracted a number of celebrity chefs over the years. “The success of the Festival has really put Christchurch on the map as a gourmet destination. There is now a wide choice of eating establishments throughout the Borough, something which contributes greatly to the local economy.” The Mayor of Christchurch, Cllr David Flagg, presented the award to committee members. In accepting the award, the Chairman of the Food Festival committee, Tim Lloyd, said: “We are all very proud to receive this. When the Festival started it was a partnership between the Council, the Chamber of Trade and the Tourism Association so we couldn’t have done it without the help of the Council. “We look forward to delivering another successful event". |
