 Some of Christchurch’s best gardeners have been feted at the Christchurch In Bloom Awards ceremony held at the Christchurch Harbour Hotel. The awards were presented to the gold, silver and bronze winners by the Mayor of Christchurch, Cllr Nick Geary, who said: “Once again we have seen some magnificent floral displays around the town this summer. I have to thank everyone who enters for these awards for contributing so much to make our town look so attractive.” The Mayor also thanked the competition’s sponsors: The Christchurch Harbour Hotel, The Lord Bute Hotel, who donated prizes of lunch for all the gold winners, and Eco Composting. Barrie Andrews from Burton won gold in both the Best Front Garden category and the Best Container category, Grove Farm Meadows was named Best Holiday Park, the Best Commercial Frontage prize went to The Lord Bute Hotel while the Best Allotment title was won by Richard Cobb. Judges were so impressed by the entries from four of the Borough’s schools that all four of them were awarded prizes. Burton Primary School won the prize for All Round Excellence, Mudeford Infants School won the Most Innovative Projects Award, the Priory School came away with the Most Improved Award while Highcliffe St Mark’s School won the Environmental Award. The judges also awarded a special prize to the Friends of Christchurch Railway Station for their work on enhancing the station with floral displays. |
