Mayoress of Christchurch, Mrs Denise Flagg, called in on the popular Women’s Workout gym, Christchurch, to launch new equipment to help ladies in their fight against fat. The gym promotes health and fitness and owners Mark and Christine Ashton, who also run a second gym in Winton, have been searching for a system to aid with trimming of stubborn areas of the body. Their answer is the new Sonic Slim system which uses a combination of ultrasound followed by exercise. The new equipment is available to members and non-members.

Director of Women’s Workout, Christine Ashton, said: “Our gyms help ladies get fit and have fun at the same time. We also support ladies trying to lose weight and they can get very frustrated when they have worked hard but cannot shift fat from a problem area, often the abdomen or back of the arms. We have researched and tested many products to help with this to no avail, until we found the Sonic Slim and we are proud to introduce this system into our gyms.”

Sonic Slim is a safe, ultrasonic treatment. It works by stimulating the body’s natural mechanisms to release a hormone that causes the fat cells in the target area to free the stored energy into the blood stream, a process known as lipolysis. As long as this energy is used up by exercise within 60 minutes then the result can be achieved. Scans clearly show a reduction not just in fat below the skin but also fat (known as visceral fat) that is stored deep in the body.

Mrs Flagg said: “I am pleased to offer support to this Christchurch small business. I like the fact that the gym concentrates on healthy eating and exercise. I think most women can empathise with the situation of working hard to lose weight but having a stubborn problem area and this seems a sensible way to help with this. I wish them every success.”

Sonic Slim is now available at both Christchurch and Winton Women’s Workout gyms. Appointments are open to all and ladies do not need to join the gym to however they would have the use of the gym as well as the sonic slim for a course of the 12 treatments.
