The Wessex Autistic Society is celebrating a successful Bun Run at Parley on Sunday 18th April. The run, with an Easter theme, attracted over 230 runners, with 200 running the 10k multi terrain course and the rest taking part in the 2k fun run. The run was supported by many spectators at both the start and finish with a great atmosphere helped by the fantastic weather and the sports injury team from Anglo European College of Chiropractics who provided massages to finishers. The runners were provided with goody bags filled with donated prizes including a hot cross bun from Belinda’s Bakery of Ringwood, Easter egg provided by St Ives Post office, water sponsored by Reams Dispatch, 3-day gym passes to LA fitness, plus a medal. The run sponsored by Parley Golf Centre and Adventure Wonderland was the brain child of Ade Holloway, a personal trainer. Ade worked in conjunction with Chapel Gate and Eco Turf to establish the route which started at Chapel Gate and finished at Portfield School after running across turf fields and Tricketts Cross. Prizes and support were received from Stokewood Injury Clinic, Up and Running (Winton), LA Fitness (Poole), Seeker Photography & Eco Turf. Community and Events Fundraiser, Sarah Bohn comments; “We are absolutely thrilled that this new race has been so well attended by our regular runners. Thank you to all of our participants and supporters who have helped us raise over £2000 for support services for children and adults with autism in our local region. Our next run is on Friday 18th June and is our annual Summer Solstice 8k at Moors Valley Country Park.” For further information on ‘The Summer Solstice’, or to download an entry form, please visit www.twas.org.uk.
