For so many of us Christmas is a time of cheer and celebration, but for many of The Wessex Autistic Society’s service users and their families, Christmas may be a time of extreme stress because of the break in routine, or it may mean absolutely nothing, which is sad for everyone.
The Wessex Autistic Society’s annual Give Cash Not Cards campaign aims to raise vital funds for the Society which is committed to ensuring that all people with autism and related conditions, and their carers in the Wessex region, have access to appropriate education, care, support, and development services.
Local companies are being urged to help the Society raise money by not doing anything! Participation is incredibly easy and low cost - a company or business contacts The Wessex Autistic Society and pledges to donate to the appeal rather than send out corporate cards this Christmas. The Society sends you stickers promoting the scheme to put on all outgoing letters and invoices so that everyone knows your company is participating. In addition your company's name is published in the charity’s newsletter and on the web site.
Already this year many of the companies who took part in last year’s successful campaign have signed up for 2010. Why not add your company's name to the growing list and demonstrate to your customers and staff your commitment to the local community. If your company is unable to participate in this way then why not raise the money with your colleagues - instead of sending inter-office Christmas cards pledge a donation to the Appeal and you will be supplied with special posters and desk notices so your colleagues know your intentions. If your company matches funds raised by employees then you can double your contribution by simply not doing anything!! Participation is easy - just give Debbie Anderson a call on 01202 703584 or email

Past support has been invaluable in ensuring The Wessex Autistic Society can continue to support people affected by autism in Dorset and help make Christmas a special time for everyone.
