 Scouts, guides and brownies from across the Borough helped the Mayor of Christchurch distribute goodwill parcels to some of the less fortunate residents. Scouts from 1st Christchurch Town, 3rd Christchurch Jumpers, 10th Christchurch Mudeford and 20th Christchurch Somerford scout groups joined 3rd Christchurch brownies and 3rd Highcliffe brownies, as well as the Mayor’s scout and guide, in distributing the parcels to 60 individuals and families in the Borough. The Mayor’s Goodwill Fund also gave grocery parcels to Christchurch Outreach and Dorset Social Services for distribution to their clients as well as grants for Christmas lunches to Christchurch Age Concern and the Royal British Legion Welfare Committee. In total the Fund spent around £1,500 on the goodwill parcels and grants, all of which came from donations from individuals and organisations in the Borough. The Mayor, Cllr David Flagg, said: “It’s magnificent to see so many scouts, guides and brownies giving their time to deliver the goodwill parcels to the less fortunate residents of Christchurch, so giving them a bit of Christmas cheer. I would also like to thank everyone who contributed to the Fund this year to help others in the community.” |
