 Following a strategic review, The Wessex Autistic Society has announced a price reduction on fee paying services provided by the Christchurch based charity. In a decision that will see some families saving thousand of pounds annually, the local charity, which has recently opened a new resource base in Dorchester, has agreed to reduce their fees in a direct response to the needs of the local community. Jon Wyatt, Director of Community Services comments, “We are responding to what people are telling us. We have reduced our hourly rate by just over 8%. This reduction is across the board to incorporate our services in the East and West of the county and has been made possible by the charity undertaking a streamlining exercise. We are striving to ensure all the services we offer are more accessible in terms of geography, cost and provision. This will have a significant impact on those buying larger individual care packages with some people being able to save thousands per year.” The Wessex Autistic Society is a voluntary organisation which aims to ensure that people with Autism receive appropriate education, care, support and individual development services. Some services are free of charge and others are fee paying.
The range of social care services available includes residential care, community support and short breaks; day and residential education for children aged 3 to 19 at Portfield School; information, advice and advocacy services; training and conference programmes; and employment opportunities.
