| | | HurnThe tiny Parish of Hurn can be found at the northernmost tip of the Borough of Christchurch yet it is home to an international airport. The airport came into being as RAF Hurn in 1941. It is still referred to as Hurn Airport by locals but it is known better to the population at large as Bournemouth International Airport and is one of the UK’s expanding regional airports. In addition to air travel the site is home to a business park where a large range of businesses of all sizes can be found and where hundreds local people are employed. In 2008 the airport was voted third best in the world and due to this popularity a new terminal building is currently under construction and the total investment at the site is some £45million. Also at Hurn are the popular local attractions, Adventure Wonderland, Bournemouth Aviation Museum and Snowtrax and also one of the Borough’s caravan and camping parks. There is a small store and post office and a sports centre which includes a cricket school and football pitch, home of Christchurch Football Club. Hurn has an active Parish Council. | |
